Kalapaki Beach ranked #1 in Things to Do in Kauai!
Lonely Planet says that Kalapaki Beach, in the town of Lihu'e, "is often overlooked by tourists. But local surfers and bodyboarders trot toward the swells, while resort guests bask on golden sand lined with coconut trees. Sheltered by points and breakwaters at Nawiliwili Bay, waters are quite hospitable to swimmers."
However, most recent visitors are convinced of Kalapaki's charms. In fact, compared to another southside shore, Po'ipu, this is the beach that most visitors recommend if you want more peace and quiet and fewer little kids. Kalapaki is good for sunning and swimming, but you can also rent a sailboat or kayak or take a catamaran cruise. Other travelers chose to take surfing lessons at Kalapaki, while still others took a break from the sun's rays by hopping into one of the beachfront cafes or shops.
